Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is currently accepting applications from the New York City area to enroll in the program’s seventh class. This no-cost 11-session business management education program will meet from mid October 2012 – early February 2013 at LaGuardia Community College’s campus. This free program is designed to help small businesses across the New York area create jobs and economic opportunity by providing them with business management education, business support services, and the opportunity to access growth capital.  

Applications from small business owners are due by August 1, 2012 and may be downloaded at http://www.lagcc.cuny.edu/10KSB.

Small business owners accepted into the program will study accounting, human resources, negotiations, and marketing, and will develop a customized growth plan for their business. Accepted applicants will also participate in one-on-one business advising sessions, accounting workshops, and pro bono legal clinics. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Fridays. Participants also commit 6-8 hours per week for out-of-class activities geared toward their business.

The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses initiative will offer selected businesses:

• Practical Business and Management Education
• Potential access to capital
• Business support services
• A network of support
• Alumni services

Graduate businesses from Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, at LaGuardia, learn vital tools they need to manage their businesses and gain new knowledge about how grow their business. 

Business owners eligible to apply for the program are required:

• To have been in business for two years or more;
• To have at least four employees;
• Revenues between $150,000 and $4 million per year; and
• Be a business that is poised for growth.

In advance of the application deadline, those interested in applying or seeking more information about the program are invited to attend an information session to learn more. Dates and locations for those sessions include:

• July 18, 2012 9am - 10am
• July 25, 2012 9am - 10am
